Basketball Fun for KS1

Key Stage 1 Basketball returned for a second year on 27th and 31st March. After the success of last year, Key Stage 1 Basketball is now a permanent fixture in the events calendar. 6 schools brought a class along to each of the two festivals where they got to try lots of activities and have a go at......Dancing Through the Decades

On Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th March the primary dance festivals took place at The Gala Theatre. 2 festivals had already taken place on 4th March, read all about them here. Infant Agility festivals returned again this year for our Key Stage 1 children. Three different festivals took place at Roseberry, Durham Johnston and Hermitage, with over 700 children taking part. On 14th March the annual County Durham Cross Country Finals took place at Parkside Academy in Willington. As a partnership we had teams representing Durham and Chester-le-Street who were competiting against Sedgefield, Easington and Wear Valley & Teesdale teams. The High 5 Netball finals took place at Maiden Castle on 11th March. Last half term 4 leagues took place at Belomt, DCBC, Durham Johnston and Fram with the winning team from each invited to attend the finals to determine the SSP winner. 700 children from 12 primary schools took part in the annual Zambia Fun Run organised by Durham University’s Event Management team and the SSP. On the 6th March Park View School played host to the Level 2 School Games Basketball competition. 10 schools entered a team of year 5 and 6 children, split into 2 groups which each team in the group playing against each other, the winners of each group would then play against each other......Primary Schools Perform at Gala

On Tuesday 4th March 13 schools took part in the first of this year’s Dance Festivals. Held at the Gala Theatre each group took their turn to perform on stage to a sell out audience. 15 schools came along to the School Sport Organsing Crew training session on 27th February at the Science Learning Centre.
