This week saw the culmination of the Girls football season with the Cup and Shield competition hosted by Durham Johnston school. Six teams took part and the teams were divided into two groups with teams playing matches lasting 7 minutes each way. This year for the first time ever Durham City SSP hosted a Gifted and Talented Multi Skills Sports Day for Year 7 pupils from its secondary schools. On Wednesday 29th June over 1200 pupils from Durham City's primary schools descended on Maiden Castle for a Sporting Extravaganza!! The Durham City School Sports Partnership had two Girls Football leagues running this season - one at Durham Community Business College and one at Durham Johnson. In total 10 teams took part. Around 200 KS1 pupils from the Gilesgate Cluster took part in a Multi-skills festival exactly a year before the real Olympic torch relay passes through Durham.
