KS1 Multi-skills Festivals

Around 900 children from Durham City primary schools took part in multi-skills festivals over three days. On Monday 13th July the festival took place at DCBC, on Tuesday 14th July it was held at Framwellgate School and on the Wednesday 15th July it was at Soccarena. On 10th July 2009 a handful of Durham City primary schools met at Maiden Castle for the first Pop Lacrosse festival! It was an exciting day, as some of the children were trying this sport for the first time. Some real talent was noticed by the Lacrosse coach, Emily Blatter,......Boys smash world record 'neigh' bother!

On Sunday July 5th at 10.30am crowds gathered at Gateshead International Stadium to watch our very own SSCo Mr 'Dark Horse' Donaghy and Olympic athlete Jared Deacon attempt to break the world record for the 100m sprint ... dressed as a pantomime horse! On 10th June 2009 the Durham City SSP Primary Athletics Competition took place at Maiden Castle. It was a spectacular day with some very impressive athletes emerging. Schools competed in track and field events to earn points for their team. A big thanks must go to......KS2 Golf Festival

Wednesday 1st July brought the hottest day of the year so far ... and we all know that the sunshine brings out the golfers! Over 200 KS2 children arrived at Meadowfield Lesuire Centre for the tri-golf festival. All children were able to compete in a series of golf challenges to earn points......Y4/5 Cricket Festival

On Tuesday 30th June 18 teams arrived at Durham City Cricket Club to take part in the Y4/5 Cricket Festival. For some of the children this would be their first experience of playing cricket, so the focus of the day was on fun and enjoyment in a new sport! The day was organised......Mini Olympics

Friday 26th June brought the Durham City SSP Mini Olympics. 20 schools came along to Maiden Castle on the day to represent their country. The day started with an Olympic Parade, during which each school showed off the way that they had chosen to represent their Country. ......KS1 Outdoor Adventure Day!

At the beginning of June around 700 KS1 children from all over Durham City took part in an outdoor adventure day. Two days were held; one at Meadowfield Sports Centre and one at Sherburn Sports Centre. Children worked in teams of 6 on activities which taught them to solve problems......Year 3/4 Mini Tennis

During the first week of this final half term four mini tennis compeitions have taken place across the city for year 3/4 pupils. 10 schools have taken part during the course of the week, with 4 winners going through to the city finals on Tuesday 9th June. All......
